Debate and Model U.N. virtual summer programs designed for students ages 8 - 19 from all backgrounds and with all experience levels
What is the Westfield Summer Program?
An award-winning mix of challenge and fun
Each week, students choose to focus on Debate, Model U.N. or an Advanced Program. So that every student can be both supported and challenged, these programs will be divided into small learning groups based on age and experience.
Debate
Whether you’re a rookie debater or an experienced vet, our debate program’s signature mix of intensive skill development sessions and practice rounds will have you breaking down complex issues, making compelling points, and winning rounds in no time.
Full week debate programs will be offered in weeks 1 and 3.
Model U.N.
Our Model UN (MUN) program will focus on developing essential MUN skills including communication, strategy, research, consensus building and public speaking. Students will explore international relations by putting their ideas into practice in daily simulations.
Full week MUN programs will be offered in Weeks 1 and 3 for new and experienced MUNers.
Advanced Programs
A version of our debate program designed for curious high-schoolers hungry for an extra challenge. These programs pair college-level topic seminars with intensive, fast-paced debate instruction. Students must apply to participate, and this program includes a unique track designed for the most elite debaters, though the program includes additional tracks appropriate for different experience levels. Advanced Debate opportunities will be offered in weeks 1 and 3 of our summer program.
New this year!
Model UN Bootcamp
The middle three-day-long session of our program will focus exclusively on MUN skills. Students will learn research and negotiation skills as they participate in full-length simulations of the United Nations processes. This three-day session is a great chance for brand new MUNers to learn what the activity is all about and for expert delegates to hone their competitive skills.

Expert Instructors
Our summer program instructors are competitors from elite US college teams, former high school champions and coaches with years of experience. Students get plenty of individual instruction and feedback, learning how to advocate from the best of the best.
Real Learning
At Westfield summer program, learning is always our top priority. Debaters learn how to make persuasive arguments about topics that run the gamut from moral philosophy to pop culture. MUNers tackle pressing global issues and learn to build coalitions and advocate effectively. And everyone has fun!

The skills of debate—including critical thinking, confident public speaking and the ability to engage with nuanced global issues—are exactly the same skills necessary to shine later in life. Whether in a college seminar, an internship cohort or just a late-night discussion with friends, debaters and MUNers are ready to rise to the occasion.
