Just one student who has found their voice can change the world.
The Westfield Community Scholars Program
We believe that providing public speaking and leadership training to students from historically marginalized communities is a powerful way to make change. The leaders and activists of tomorrow need the skills to make their voices heard, and we can help. Through partnerships with community organizations and generous individual donors, in addition to Westfield’s own contributions to the scholarship fund, we are able to make this dream a reality for a cohort of students each year.
Locally, we collaborate with our amazing community partners to reach out to low-income students in the greater Hartford area who would most benefit from participating in our programs. Last summer, almost 25% of students at summer camp attended with a full scholarship and over 30% received financial assistance.
Globally, through our partnership with FORA (Forging Opportunities for Refugees in America), we work to provide the opportunity to attend Westfield to members of refugee communities. This past year, we were able to fund summer camp scholarships for eighteen recently resettled Rohingya students; nine of those students also attended our academic year classes.
We are also grateful to the many generous donors who help us fund this life-changing program.
Westfield is constantly working to expand the impact of our scholarship program. We are always on the lookout for new students to support and new organizations to collaborate with in our misson of empowering underserved communities.
Want to become a community partner? We look forward to connecting. Reach out.
Would you like to support our work? Independent donors provide crucial support that translates directly into the empowerment of underserved youth.
Think your child might be a good fit for our scholarship program? We’d love to hear from you.
Not a member of a historically marginalized community but still in need of financial support to attend Westfield’s programs? Our financial aid program is need-based.
“Westfield is a truly valuable way to change the world!”
