Benefits of Virtual Learning
Why Virtual? We're glad you asked...
-
Being virtual allows our students to participate in events all over the country and world. We now regularly participate in debate tournaments and MUN conferences that we would never have been able to attend in-person. We've competed all over the US, Canada, China, Brazil and beyond!
-
We are able to host Distinguished Speakers from every corner of the world. Our speakers have included Gary Kasparov, the former World Chess Champion and now-head of an international human rights organization, who spoke with us from Croatia; Pastor Evan Mawarire from Zimbabwe whose brave leadership sparked the revolution that overthrew Robert Mugabe; and many, many more.

Students have shared with us something that, at first glance, may seem counterintuitive: Being virtual actually facilitates real connection. Students feel freer to be themselves; they feel less judged and more willing to be open. One student told us that it has been her experience that people become closer significantly faster when they meet and interact virtually.
Many business meetings and college interviews are now conducted online.
Increasingly, this is the new norm. Students learning how to conduct themselves professionally and confidently in a digital environment is yet another benefit of virtual learning at Westfield Academy.
