Model U.N. Classes
Westfield virtual Model U.N. classes welcome students ages 8 - 18 from all backgrounds and are designed to challenge students of any experience level
What is Model U.N.?
Diplomacy in action!
Model U.N. is a conference-based activity in which a student assumes the role of an ambassador to a simulated committee of the United Nations and together work to address a pressing global issue, such as economic inequality, public health crises, environmental degradation and more.
"You are here to step into the shoes of UN ambassadors… You may be playing a role, but you are also preparing for life. You are acting as global citizens."
– Ban Ki-Moon, Former United Nations Secretary General
Why do MUN?
MUN delegates learn to…
-
Practice interrogating arguments and learn how to spot the strengths and weaknesses of any contention
-
Learn how to appreciate others’ perspectives and needs, and figure out to cooperate despite differences of opinion
-
Direct teams responding to emergent crises and develop potential solutions to complex problems
-
It’s no coincidence that our graduates often get into their first-choice schools. (Think Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Columbia and more.)
Why Westfield?
Elite Competition
We don’t like to brag, but Westfield MUNers tend to win… a lot. Our students all have the option to attend conferences and we send delegates to events around the world. No matter your starting point, Westfield will help you meet and exceed your competitive goals.
Expert Instructors
Our MUN instructors are competitors from elite U.S. college teams, former high school best delegates and coaches with years of experience. MUN delegates get plenty of individual instruction and feedback, learning how to negotiate from the best of the best.
Real Learning
At Westfield, students learn by doing. While figuring out how to negotiate a nuclear disarmament settlement or research your country’s position on climate change , MUNers always end up getting curious and learning lots about their world.
